Rodriguez enjoys cold weather activities such as skiing and snowshoeing. "Cold weather forces your body to work harder during training, and this also applies to your cardiovascular system," says Aston University. "As the heart works harder to pump blood around the body during cold weather exercise, this invigorating workout helps to keep your heart health in tip-top shape."

Rodriguez loves dancing, which is not only beneficial for physical health, but for brain health as well. "There's no question, anecdotally at least, that music has a very stimulating effect on physical activity," says Daniel Tarsy, MD, an HMS professor of neurology and director of the Parkinson's Disease and Movement Disorders Center at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC). "And I think that applies to dance, as well."

Rodriguez enjoys the many health benefits of delicious tea. "Green tea is exceptionally high in flavonoids that can help boost your heart health by lowering bad cholesterol and reducing blood clotting," according to Penn Medicine. "Studies show this type of tea can also help lower blood pressure, triglycerides and total cholesterol."

Rodriguez enjoys swimming, which is a fun way to get exercise. "Aerobic exercise, including cycling, walking, jogging, swimming, and even gardening have been proven to reduce anxiety, depression and negative mood," says Matthew Teal, LCSW-R, CASAC. "Regular exercise can even help reduce the likelihood that someone will become depressed or anxious."

Rodriguez uses weights to take exercises such as lunges to the next level.  Strength training helps you lose weight and keep it off by building muscle tissue. "The more muscle mass you have, the higher your metabolic rate tends to be," says Beaumont Health. "More muscle also helps your body burn more fat than muscle, which is important if you want to lose weight and keep your strength."
