Krauss’ career started in 1984.

Alison Krauss Net Worth $16 Million

Alison Maria Krauss is a daughter of Louise and Fred, German-Italian parents who raised her in Champagne, Illinois. Her mother sent her to violin classes at the age five, but Alison soon switched to bluegrass. She expressed her enormous talent from an early age, and when eight was already competing in local talent contests, then at ten she had her band. Alison won the Walnut Valley Festival Fiddle Championship at 13, and became one of the most promising fiddle players in the Midwest.

Krauss had her recording debut with the release of “Different Strokes” album in 1985, and two years later she recorded another album called “Too Late to Cry” (1987), with Union Station as her backup band. Her first group album with Union Station was called “Two Highways” (1989), then soon afterwards Krauss released her third album – “I’ve Got That Old Feeling” (1990). The single “Steel Rails” earned Alison her first Grammy Award and launched her on to the Billboard country chart.

Krauss’ early success was a good foundation for the 90’s, when she released five more albums, two of them with Union Station and one with The Cox Family. These were “Every Time You Say Goodbye” (1992), “I Know Who Holds Tomorrow” (1994), “Now That I’ve Found You: A Collection” (1995), “So Long So Wrong” (1997), and “Forget About It” (1999).

“Every Time You Say Goodbye” earned her a Grammy Award for Best Bluegrass Album of the year, and her astronomic success was followed by numerous covers and collaborations such as Bad Company’s “Oh Atlanta” and Keith Whitley’s “When You Say Nothing at All”.

In the 2000’s, Krauss released six more albums: “New Favorite” (2001) which won two Grammy’s, “Live” (2002) that went double platinum, “Lonely Runs Both Ways” (2004), “A Hundred Miles or More: A Collection” (2007), “Raising Sand” (2007) with Robert Plant which won five Grammy’s, and “Essential Alison Krauss” (2009). All contributed to her net worth.

Her latest album is called “Paper Airplane” (2011), and she and Union Station toured with Willie Nelson and Family in 2014. Alison Krauss has appeared in film and on television including five episodes of the public television music program “Austin City Limits”, from 1996 to 2005, and also in the children’s television series “Sesame Street” in 2005.

Regarding her personal life, Alison Krauss married Pat Bergeson, a musician, in 1997 but the marriage didn’t last long, and they divorced in 2001 while their only child, a son named Sam, was born in 1999.
